I am a UK based textile designer heavily influenced by the animal kingdom, entomology & folklore, illustrating all of my bespoke prints with a delicate hand. I use a combination of hand-drawing and watercolour painting to create unique and atmospheric designs for scarves, wallpapers, fabrics, home accessories and limited edition art prints, as well as bespoke screen-printed fabrics for one-off installations. All fabrics are produced & printed in England.
I was initially drawn to textiles as an archive of memory and a means to reconstruct our emotional connection to the objects around us. Working from photographs and historical references, the illustrations give life and new meaning to untold narratives. Seeking to preserve a snapshot of our ever-changing natural world, my drawings animate and reinvent traditional, symbolic imagery to create prints with a sense of nostalgia and a dreamlike fantasy. These designs propose a new way of understanding reality that is unique and special to each person.
During my 4 years of study at The University of Brighton I have gained a strong awareness of screen printed textile design, developing an acute attention to detail that has refined my hand-drawing skills. My most recent masters collections have focused on the study of daylight in an interior setting, ranging from burn-out fabric dividers to bespoke lighting ideas.
